Washington DC's well-known entertainer, author and veteran WMAL & ABC radio  personality,  Karen Henderson's talents extend from stage and media performer to intuitive, bringer of ancient wisdom and  

modern visionary. Her entire upbringing has prepared her to meet this singular point in time. 

Born Washington, D.C., Bolling Field AFB

  • International upbringing by USAF family
  • Lifelong training in music and the arts, ancient wisdom and cosmology,  as relate to consciousness and spirituality
  • Began onstage performing as vocalist at age 16 at Mr. Henry's Georgetown
  • Performed shows for the USO, Washington, D.C.  during Vietnam War
  • Performed shows and dance music to audiences at the  most prestigious hotels and nightclubs in the Washington D.C. area  including Blues Alley, the Cellar Door,  Washington Hilton, Sheraton Washington, Mayflower Hotel, Sheraton National, the Marriott  Hotels, Charlie's Georgetown, and the Omni Shoreham Hotel.  She also appeared at the Tropicana Hotel in Las Vegas.
  • Added career as announcer in radio broadcasting. Spent over 20 years in broadcasting:   WMAL AM 63 in Washington, D.C. (13 years); WCVA-WCUL in Culpeper, VA (7 years)
  • Worked with Bill Mayhugh, Frank Harden and Jackson Weaver,Tom Gauger, Felix Grant, Ed Walker, Willard Scott, Ken Beatrice and Stan Karas
  • Interviewed/partnered with the greats from the world of entertainment including Art Linkletter, Danny Thomas, David Brenner, George Shearing, Sarah Vaughn, Jack Jones, Pearl Bailey, Sammy Cahn, Jose Eber and Lou Rawls.
  • Hosted and performed as vocalist at all major events in Washington D.C. including: annual 4th of July fireworks shows on the Capitol Mall; Bob Hope's 95th Birthday Party at the Library of Congress; the Sunset Serenade Concert Series at the National Zoo and the Kennedy Center's New Year's Eve annual celebration 
  • Performed in concert with all  major military jazz bands including the U.S. Air Force Airmen of Note, U.S. Army Blues, the U.S. Marine Band and the U.S. Navy Band Commodores.
  • Awarded status as a Lifetime Member of the U.S. Navy Band
  • Other performance credits: The U.S. Capitol, the Smithsonian's National Museum of American History and the National Air and Space Museum; in private concerts for the U.S. Supreme Court;  U.S. Library of Congress; Smithsonian's Living Fossil Award with featured jazz guitarist John Pizzarelli. 
  • Considered a living part of American history, Karen is noted for her numerous National Anthem appearances at Washington Redskins football games, VA Gold Cup Races and other events. She is especially noted for appearing at: Bob Hope's 95th Birthday Celebration (U.S. Library of Congress); Wright Brothers' 100th Anniversary of Flight; 50th Commemoration of WWII;  40th Anniversary of the NASA Moon Walk. She has also performed the International Children's Festival at the Wolf Trap Foundation for the Performing Arts and at the Corcoran School for the Arts, and the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.
  • Departed full time broadcasting in 1999 to begin environmental work with a regional commission.
  •  Spent 10 years as President and CEO of a local chamber of commerce in Warrenton, VA serving the business community 
  • Named Virginia Chamber Executive of the Year Award  by the VA Chamber of Commerce (2008).
  • Honored for her service to the community by Hospice of the Rapidan (2008).
  • Sang New Year's Eve 2012 Show (her 18th annual and final appearance) for the highly honored John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, DC. Karen and Sidney's Full Swing Orchestra performed  as National Symphony Conductor Murry Sidlin joined Karen onstage to count down the New Year in that long standing Washington D.C. tradition

    A Gnostic, Karen graduated from the University of Science & Philosophy in Swannanoa; is a Certified Reiki Master in the Usui Tradition; an Ordained Minister; and holds a  Doctor of Divinity from the Universal Life Church Monastery.  

    Her goal is to help assist in opening awareness, one soul at a time.
